Spiaggia della Feniglia: six kilometers of beach, between resorts and free beaches. Set between Porto Ercole and the Ansedonia promontory, in front of an uncontaminated natural reserve that you can travel by foot or by bike, it’s one of the best family beaches. Parking is well organized and a shuttle is provided, there is also a large pine forest equipped with tables and benches where you can enjoy a picnic lunch, but there are also coffee bars and restaurants. The shallow shore gently slopes downward, especially in the morning when the water seems completely clear. If you prefer a more animated situation, the part nearest Porto Ercole is certainly the more lively area, while the Ansedonia area is more devoted to peace and relaxation.
Spiaggia della Tagliata: this beach enjoys a particular context being next to an ancient Roman harbor of the city of Cosa ‘Portus Cosanus’ and a natural fissure called the Spacco della Regina (The Queen’s Gap), which was once useful for using the water from the streams. In time, the Spacco della Regina became impracticable and was replaced by an artificial work called precisely La Tagliata (The Slice), a canal dug out of the rock which runs for nearly 100 meters from the sea to the lagoon behind it, and from which the beach, which stretches up to the coast of Lazio’s Maremma, gets its name.
Spiaggia della Giannella: eight kilometers long, it’s a beach with super fine sand, with resorts and free beaches and a dense, centuries-old pine forest behind it, suitable for a picnic or afternoon nap together with the kids. Set to the south of the view of Porto Santo Stefano and to the north of the headland on which stands Talamone, Gianella faces a mirror of sea which tends to be calm and inviting, which at sunset is tinged with all of the colors of which nature is capable.
Spiaggia dell’Osa: the beach stretches across 8 kilometers and lies between two rivers, the Osa and the Albenga. Flanked by a luxurious pine forest and by a shaded bike path, this stretch of beach hosts most of the area’s campgrounds, but regardless, is accessible to anyone.
Spiaggia della Fertilia: between Fonteblanda and Talamone runs a strip of beach and sea grass known also as the Talamone or Surfer’s Bay. It is one of the most popular destinations for lovers of extreme sports like Kite Surfing and Wind Surfing, but also Sailing. The Bay actually has a particular shape which allows it to host all the winds while leaving the water still up the first two miles of the coast. For the first 200m the water is very shallow, thereby allowing even beginners to practice without much difficulty, and to swimmers to relax while playing in complete safety with their children.
Bagno degli Uomini and Bagno delle Donne: these beaches tell a story which digs deep into the roots of the 1950s when singles were not permitted to frequent the same beach. That is how this stretch of sea facing the two beaches, separated by the cliffs, and still defined today by the locals as “the living room,” represented “secret” meeting place where eyes could meet.
Cala del Cannone: a rocky shore, excellent for lovers of scuba diving and snorkeling
