Roselle Archaeological Area

Roselle represents one of the most important Etruscan cities. It is located a few kilometres from the city of Grosseto and large portions of the city walls, remains of the ancient city, amphitheatre and baths are visible. Recent excavations have uncovered an urban layout dating back to the 7th-6th century BC. The excavations, from March to October, are open daily from 9 a.m. to 7.30 p.m.

Vetulonia Archaeological Park
Vetulonia is one of the twelve most important Etruscan cities. It is a small village in the province of Castiglione della Pescaia where it will be possible to visit the necropolis, the Villa dei Sepolcri and the ruins of Sestinga Abbey. For archaeology enthusiasts, a visit to the Necropolis of Vetulonia will be an unforgettable stop.

Archaeological Park of the Tufo City
This is a historical archaeological park that protects the treasures of the famous tuff cities Pitigliano, Sovana and Sorano. Be surprised by the beautiful route formed by the ‘Vie Cave’. or walkways dug into the rock by the ancient Etruscans and still passable today with walls up to 20 metres high.

The City of Cosa
The city of Cosa was founded in 273 BC as a Roman colony after the defeat of the Etruscan city of Vulci. Erected on a rocky promontory, joined by the Tombolo della Feniglia to Monte Argentario, it also boasted a port: Portus Cosanus, behind which stretched a large coastal lagoon, today Lake Burano. It later became a Byzantine fortress and medieval castle with the name Ansedonia, from which the town takes its name today.
It is possible to visit its ruins and archaeological areas.
