An excursion within everyone’s reach into unspoilt nature: the Maremma Park, also known as the Uccellina Park after the green mountains that characterise its skyline overlooking the sea and hide prehistoric caves where Homo sapiens and Homo neanderthalensis lived together; at the foot of the mountains, one of the most beautiful beaches in Italy, Collelungo, which still retains its natural beauty.
Between the mountains and the beach, a path through the scented Mediterranean scrub takes us to the crystal clear sea, where we can enjoy a swim away from the crowds of tourists. The different route back will allow us to observe the Maremma cows grazing accompanied by their calves through the Pineta Granducale and if we are lucky we will be able to see the Maremma bull grazing, the closest animal to the Aurochs, the wild cattle of the ancient Romans, now extinct.
All this on a bicycle and accompanied by an environmental guide who will tell us about the history and nature of this incredible and magical place.
Departure from Alberese at 16.30, equipment delivery and departure with the bikes at 17.00, arrival at the Collelungo beach and swimming, return along the Pineta Granducale and arrival in Alberese at around 21.30. Possibility to do the excursion also with muscular MTBs.
