Venice Art Biennale 2024

An Exceptional Exhibition of Contemporary Art

The 60th International Art Exhibition, entitled “Stranieri Ovunque – Foreigners Everywhere”, curated by Adriano Pedrosa and produced by la Biennale di Venezia, will be open to the public from 20 April to 24 November 2024 at the Giardini and the Arsenale in Venice.
This year’s edition pursues the path of environmental sustainability, with the aim of achieving ‘carbon neutrality’ certification again this year.
The central theme, “Foreigners Everywhere”, taken from works by the Claire Fontaine collective, reflects on the concept of foreignness and belonging in a global world.

The exhibition will be developed in two distinct nuclei: the Contemporary Nucleus and the Historical Nucleus. The Contemporary Core privileges artists who have never participated in international exhibitions, with a focus on outdoor projects and performances. The Historical Core presents 20th century works from different regions of the world, offering a unique perspective on global modernisms.

The Biennale will be accompanied by 88 National Participations in the Pavilions at the Giardini, at the Arsenale and in the historic centre of Venice, with the participation of 4 new countries: the Republic of Benin, Ethiopia, the Democratic Republic of Timor Leste and the United Republic of Tanzania. There will be 30 Collateral Events, which will further enrich the diversity of artistic voices represented.
The exhibition will include special projects such as the works of ceramist Nedda Guidi exhibited in Forte Marghera and the work of artist Beatriz Milhazes in the Applied Arts Pavilion.
In addition, the finalist projects of the 2nd edition of Biennale College Arte 2023/24 will be presented, together with the Golden Lions for Lifetime Achievement awarded to Anna Maria Maiolino and Nil Yalter.
With the Educational offer, the initiatives aim to actively involve students, children, adults and professionals, with guided tours and workshop activities.
The Venice Art Biennale 2024 thus promises to be a unique and stimulating experience, exploring important themes and presenting a wide range of artistic talent from around the world.
