As September moves into its second half, Venice changes pace.
The days become milder, the city is more pleasant to explore, and the calendar continues to offer major events dedicated to contemporary art, music, sailing and sport.
Here are four events to experience over the coming weeks.

1. Biennale Arte: Venice becomes one great city-wide exhibition
• The 61st International Art Exhibition – In Minor Keys remains open until 22 November 2026, across the Giardini, Arsenale, Forte Marghera and numerous venues throughout the city.
• Until 27 September, the Giardini and Arsenale are open from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm, with the Arsenale staying open until 8:00 pm on Fridays and Saturdays. From 29 September to 22 November, opening hours change to 10:00 am–6:00 pm. The exhibition is normally closed on Mondays.
• A full-price ticket costs €30 and includes one admission to the Giardini and one to the Arsenale, which can also be used on different days. Tickets and guided tours can be purchased online.
It is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to dedicate a day to contemporary Venice, where art enters into dialogue with historic spaces and monumental architecture.

2. Biennale Musica: October between sound and experimentation
• From 10 to 24 October 2026, Venice hosts the 70th International Festival of Contemporary Music, directed by Caterina Barbieri.
• The programme features daily events with soloists, international ensembles and new Biennale College Musica projects, creating a journey through sound research, electronic music and contemporary experimentation.
• Events take place at various Biennale venues, offering the opportunity to experience Venetian spaces normally associated with art and architecture through a completely different perspective: sound.

3. Veleziana: Venice turns towards the sea
• From 10 to 18 October 2026, the Veleziana Sailing Week, organised by Compagnia della Vela, returns to Venice.
• The most spectacular moment comes with the final regatta, when the boats enter the lagoon and the St Mark’s Basin fills with sails.
• You don’t have to take part in the competition to enjoy the event: the boats can be watched from the waterfront and panoramic viewpoints overlooking St Mark’s Basin.
When: 10–18 October 2026

For spectators: watching the boats from the waterfront is free
It is the perfect choice for seeing Venice from a different perspective, surrounded by sailing boats, the lagoon and maritime tradition.

• The main race connects the Brenta Riviera with Venice, crosses the temporary floating bridge over the Grand Canal, passes through St Mark’s Square and finishes at Riva Sette Martiri, near the Biennale Gardens.
• Even if you’re not running, the event is an opportunity to experience the city in a different way. The athletes’ passage through the historic centre creates a festive atmosphere, and spectators can watch for free along the sections of the route open to the public.
