In September, Venice takes on a different atmosphere.

1. Venice International Film Festival
• From 2 to 12 September 2026, the Lido hosts the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, directed by Alberto Barbera.
• The heart of the festival is the Palazzo del Cinema on Lungomare Marconi, together with the other screening venues and Biennale spaces across the island. For ten days, the Lido comes alive with screenings, talks, red carpets, international premieres and the arrival of actors and directors from around the world.
• Even if you don’t attend the exclusive evening events, you can still experience the festival atmosphere by strolling along the waterfront, purchasing tickets for public screenings or stopping at the cafés and restaurants frequented by festival guests.
• Staying at The Caesar Venezia 2000, the Palazzo del Cinema is only a 15-minute walk away, while the beach right in front of the hotel offers the perfect way to start your day.

2. Historical Regatta: Venice celebrates its maritime heritage
• On Sunday, 6 September 2026, starting at 9:00 am, Venice celebrates the Historical Regatta, one of the city’s most beloved and spectacular traditions.
• The highlight is the magnificent historical parade along the Grand Canal, featuring sixteenth-century boats, gondoliers in period costume and historical figures recreating the arrival of Caterina Cornaro, Queen of Cyprus, in Venice.
• After the parade, the traditional Venetian rowing races begin. The most anticipated is the gondolini race, which follows the Grand Canal to the famous floating finish line, the “machina”, located in front of Ca’ Foscari.
• To secure the best viewpoint, it’s recommended to arrive early and choose a spot along the Grand Canal or one of the designated viewing areas.
• On Sunday, 6 September 2026, starting at 9:00 am, Venice celebrates the Historical Regatta, one of the city’s most beloved and spectacular traditions.

3. The Venice Glass Week: discovering the city through glass
• From 12 to 20 September 2026, Venice, Murano and Mestre host the 10th edition of The Venice Glass Week, the international festival dedicated to glass art.
• The programme includes exhibitions, live demonstrations, artist talks and contemporary installations hosted in glass furnaces, museums, galleries, foundations and historic palaces.
• A perfect day begins with a vaporetto ride to Murano, where visitors can watch master glassmakers at work, before continuing through Venice to discover exhibitions and installations in lesser-known venues.
• It’s also the perfect opportunity to discover that Murano glass is not only about tradition: contemporary artists and designers continue to reinvent this extraordinary craft through innovative techniques and creative ideas.

4. Veleziana & Venice Marathon
• Venice’s calendar doesn’t end with September. On Sunday, 18 October 2026, the Veleziana returns, the prestigious sailing regatta organised by the Compagnia della Vela, starting from the waters off the Lido and finishing in the St. Mark’s Basin.
• Watching the yachts sail into the lagoon between the Doge’s Palace and the island of San Giorgio Maggiore is one of the most spectacular sights of the Venetian autumn.
• On Sunday, 25 October 2026, runners take part in the 40th Venice Marathon. The main race crosses the Brenta Riviera, San Giuliano Park, enters Venice via the Liberty Bridge and finishes at Riva dei Sette Martiri.
• Alongside the full 42 km marathon, shorter race distances allow amateur runners to enjoy the unique atmosphere of the event.
• Venice’s calendar doesn’t end with September. On Sunday, 18 October 2026, the Veleziana returns, the prestigious sailing regatta organised by the Compagnia della Vela, starting from the waters off the Lido and finishing in the St. Mark’s Basin.
