A popular destination for many Italian and international VIPs, the Capalbio coastline is nearly 12 km long, limited at the north by the town of Orbetello and at the south by the Tuscany/Lazio border. This long coastline has 6 km of free and completely pristine beaches, but also of elegant and trendy beach resorts, all furnished with good restaurants and convenient parking lots. The coast is easy to reach by car using one of three access roads. From the north, just after the Ansedonia promontory, we find the first access road in La Torba (take the Ansedonia sud exit from the SS Aurelia). 2 kilometers further south, we find the second access road in Macchiatonda, and proceeding another 9 kilometers we find the final one in Chiarone. The singularity of this stretch of the Maremma coastline, besides having a beach consisting of various types of sand running from the fine, white sand in Chiarone to the darker, more ferrous sand in La Torba, is undoubtedly its dunes. Thanks to the combined action of the tides, winds and vegetation, the formation of the dunes renders the beach an oasis of relaxation which from the shore slowly rises onto mounds of sand dotted with various plant varieties, to then plunge into the impenetrable and fragrant Mediterranean Scrub. The sea is always limpid and crystal clear.
